BALAI RINGIN: Sri Aman MP Masir Kujat and Balai Ringin assemblyman Snowdan Lawan are visiting villages in their areas now facing shortage of water. Among the affected villages they visited were Semada Belatok, Semada Tengah, Semada Mawang, Ruan Tengah, Ruan Jaya and Ruan Lama.
Before they visited they helped to request for water from the relevant authorities and clean water had been coming in since four days ago. Before their latest visit, they had gone to Kampung Pinang Baru where they met villagers lining up for water from a supply truck. Their visit to Kampung Sungai Pinang Baru coincided with a pre-Independence Day function organised by the villagers.
According to Snowdan, the affected villagers would be recievingabout 1,000 gallons of water daily. He said eventhough Public Works Department(JKR) is distributing water, the affected villages must use their supply sparingly. ” I must tell you that our water sources are beginning to dry up, if we are no tcareful we might run out of water even at the bigger source,” he added
The assemblyman also advised the local not to carry out open burning because the fire could get out of control. At the function, Snowdan pledged RM3,000 government grant to the women bureau of the village, while Masir said he would give RM5,000 to the village development and security committee (JKKK)>
